Dad, an online driver, nearly empties this Indomaret store, surprising even the JESTHAM team.

Medan City, North Sumatra - (01/20/25) Amid unpredictable weather and heavy pouring rain, the spirit of this online driver (ojol) never wanes. He is the surprise target of this mission from JESTHAM's charity initiative. Faithfully carrying out his duty of delivering orders, he never expected that on that day, good fortune awaited him. Unexpected sustenance came when he was invited to take on the challenge of shopping for groceries to his heart's content, with only two minutes on the clock.

"Ready, Sir? Let's go. 1, 2, 3, quick!" As the signal began, the ojol driver, who initially appeared shy, moved nimbly to fill his shopping cart. With full focus, he hurried to grab basic necessities. "Rice, rice, rice!" he exclaimed while stacking sacks of rice. He also managed to put in eggs, cooking oil, and sugar. Accompanied by the cheering JESTHAM team, the atmosphere became very touching.

Amid the speed and time constraint, his care as a father remained evident. When offered to take anything, his choices fell on basic household necessities. He even managed to grab milk, instant noodles, and bread for his child who is already in high school. Every step he took in the Indomaret aisles was filled with a sincere desire to meet his family's needs.

Once the two minutes were up, his tired expression transformed into an irrepressible smile of happiness. "I am so happy, Ma'am," he expressed with glistening eyes. He admitted to trembling and feeling confused when he was suddenly called into the store and given this opportunity. The surprise meant so much to a father who daily bears a heavy burden of responsibility.

In a deep conversation, this ojol driver opened his heart about his struggles. "What is the hardest part about being a father? The burden of responsibility," he answered softly. He revealed that the school fees for his two children attending private schools often force him to fall behind on payments. "I later beg the teachers so that they just aren't expelled," he recounted emotionally. To cover the arrears, he pays in installments bit by bit.

His struggle knows no time. Even when the rain pours heavily, he still bravely goes online to look for orders. "Yes, that's for the children, Ma'am," he said. Every day, he must set aside at least Rp10,000 for transportation and pocket money for his two children. His sacrifice is so great; he never eats out or takes a day off from work. "The money I earn, I never eat out. I have to go home," he asserted with a trembling voice.

Seeing his sincerity and struggle, the JESTHAM team not only provided the groceries from the speed shopping but also gave cash assistance as additional sustenance. "Maybe this can help pay for the children's school arrears, Sir," said JESTHAM. The ojol driver could no longer hold back his tears, repeatedly saying thank you. "This is help directly from God," he uttered full of gratitude, believing this was an answer to the prayers he had been reciting all this time.

At the end of this moving encounter, the ojol driver chose to go straight home to bring that happiness to his family. His shopping items were delivered to his house. "Keep up the spirit always, Sir," JESTHAM's prayers accompanied his departure. This story is proof that behind the busyness and changing weather, there is the perseverance of a father who never gives up, and any kindness, no matter how small, can be a light that illuminates someone's life.
