Spreading Joy in the Lunar New Year: Happiness and Prosperity for All

Medan Petisah, Medan City—(01/31/25) The Lunar New Year has always been a much-anticipated celebration, brimming with joy and togetherness. This year, Jestham marked the arrival of 2025 in a special way—by sharing blessings with the cleaning staff at her apartment. With the help of her babysitter assistant, she prepared angpao (red envelopes) and oranges—symbols of prosperity and good fortune—as tokens of gratitude for their hard work.

The morning was filled with cheerful energy. Jestham and her babysitter assistant busily arranged everything, from stuffing the angpao with money in different amounts to wrapping the oranges. There were lighthearted moments too—like when the babysitter playfully tied Jestham’s hair up despite her initial protests—but everything went smoothly. Laughter and jokes filled the air, adding warmth to the festive preparations.

Once ready, they headed to the apartment lobby to meet the cleaning team. The staff’s faces lit up with happiness and gratitude as they received the angpao, accepting them with their right hands while saying thank you. Jestham cheerfully reminded them, “Here’s an orange for you—don’t forget to smile!”—a simple yet heartfelt gesture to brighten their day.

Beyond the monetary gifts, the oranges carried deep cultural meaning. In Chinese tradition, they symbolize abundance and luck. By giving them, Jestham hoped the new year would bring even greater blessings to the recipients. Each angpao and orange was handed out with sincere wishes for happiness and prosperity in the year ahead.

The moment grew even more touching as the staff reacted with genuine delight—some grinning widely, others joyfully exclaiming “Gong Xi Fa Cai!” (“Wishing you prosperity!”). The shared joy made the Lunar New Year celebration even more memorable. For Jestham, true happiness comes from giving with an open heart.

As the event wrapped up, Jestham encouraged everyone to welcome the new year with gratitude and kindness. “May 2025 bring us all good health, endless blessings, and boundless happiness,” she said, closing the meaningful celebration on a hopeful note.

Gong Xi Fa Cai! May Jestham’s act of generosity inspire us all to spread kindness—not just during the holidays, but every day. A new year brings new beginnings; let’s make each day an opportunity to share joy!
