Jestham Shares: A Small Act with Deep Meaning for a Struggling Ojol Driver
Medan, North Sumatra – (March 30, 2026) – In the hustle and bustle of a city that often seems indifferent, there are small moments capable of restoring the warmth of humanity. Jestham, known for her acts of sharing, met an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) sitting alone, lost in thought, by the side of the road. As it turned out, that day was hushed for orders. The ojol driver admitted he hadn't received a single order yet, even as time kept ticking away. From this, a simple yet meaningful conversation began, revealing the tireless struggle of a husband and father.
Jestham approached the ojol driver and started a light conversation. "What are you doing, Brother?" she asked. "Just waiting for an order," the driver replied briefly. Jestham then asked how many orders he had received that day. With a slightly weary tone, the driver only answered, "Quiet." From his expression and tone of voice, Jestham could feel that the day was indeed tough for him. However, rather than just asking, Jestham chose to dig deeper into the driver's personal life, because she believes that behind every struggle, there are always loved ones who serve as motivation.

When Jestham asked about the person he loved the most, the driver answered without hesitation, "My family, my wife, and children." His wife's name was mentioned with great affection: "Suci Suandari." Jestham then asked the driver to spell his wife's name, letter by letter: S-U-C-I-S-U-A-N-D-A-R-I. Uniquely, for every letter correctly spelled, Jestham would give a piece of rezeki (sustenance/money) as a form of appreciation. There was a touching tremor when the name was spelled with such love by a husband struggling on the streets. Jestham grew even more curious, asking why the driver loved Suci so much. The simple yet piercing answer came: "Because she gave birth to our child." That short sentence depicted the immense appreciation and love a husband holds for his wife, who became the mother of his children.
The peak of emotion came when Jestham asked the ojol driver to deliver a message in case his wife ever watched this video. With a voice beginning to tremble, the driver told his wife to always be grateful for whatever sustenance comes from God, no matter how small his earnings that day might be. Jestham, observing closely, then asked, "Why are you shaking so much, Brother?" The driver answered innocently, "I'm just surprised, Miss. This is sustenance." He was so touched and hadn't expected someone to care and want to help in the midst of his difficulties.
"So, do you believe, Brother, that when we strive for the sake of those we love, there is always sustenance that God has prepared for us?" Jestham asked. Firmly, the driver answered, "Yes, Miss." Jestham smiled, hearing such strong conviction from someone in a difficult position. From this, Jestham was moved to provide help that was not only material but also touched the heart.

With her characteristic cheerful yet empathetic style, Jestham then gave an amount of money to the ojol driver. "I'll exchange these, guys. One, two, three, four, five, six…" she said while counting the bills corresponding to the number of letters spelled. Jestham then took her leave with a short, stirring message: "Stay strong, Brother. We'll say goodbye now, okay? Bye-bye!" The ojol driver responded with a small, relieved smile, and then Jestham walked away, leaving behind a touching moment captured on video.

This act of sharing by Jestham was not just about giving money but also about giving space for a father to speak his wife's name with love, about reinforcing the belief that sustenance will surely come for those who do not give up. A small, sincere act, like the one Jestham performed, can become a light on a lonely day.
