Unexpected Blessings for a Becak Driver: A Dream Come True

Medan, North Sumatra – (April 2, 2026) – Another heartwarming moment has unfolded. The story began when Jestham and her husband, Koko, accidentally saw Mr. Suwanto, a becak (pedicab) driver, sleeping soundly by the roadside. Jestham, who is known for her unique and entertaining social acts, was immediately moved to surprise him. Moreover, they recognized Mr. Suwanto as the person Koko had previously offered to buy rice from for IDR 200,000.

With great enthusiasm, Jestham woke Mr. Suwanto up and offered a special opportunity. "Sir, I have some blessings from God. Would you like to shop for groceries as much as you want?" Jestham asked. Still drowsy and trembling with disbelief, Mr. Suwanto replied, "Yes, of course." After some small talk and learning that their rice supply at home had run out, Jestham gave an exciting challenge: Mr. Suwanto was given 2 minutes to take anything inside a grocery store, free of charge.

As the countdown began, Mr. Suwanto's spirit soared. "Oil, sir, oil, bring oil, sir, quick, sir, take a lot, everything!" Jestham cheered, running to fill the shopping basket. Besides cooking oil, he also took rice, soap, coffee, and medicine. In those 2 blessed minutes, he managed to gather various basic necessities, his eyes shining with joy and emotion.

After shopping, Jestham paid for all the items. During the event, Mr. Suwanto shared about his difficult life. He has four children, but two passed away as infants. His two other children are currently pursuing higher education thanks to government assistance. "Thank God we receive funds from the government. If not, we couldn't afford it. You know, college is expensive," he said, his eyes welling up with tears.

When asked to convey a message to his children, Mr. Suwanto could no longer hold back his emotions. "My children, I'm sorry. I haven't been able to make you happy because of my financial situation. I'm truly sorry. Hopefully, you won't end up like me," he pleaded, his voice trembling. Jestham quickly calmed and encouraged him, saying that Mr. Suwanto was already amazing for staying responsible and trying despite his limitations.

Mr. Suwanto also admitted that his daily life was very difficult. The family only eats instant noodles because he only has IDR 5,000 left in his pocket. "I swear by God, there's nothing else. Just this in my pocket, nothing else," he confessed honestly. When Jestham asked him what side dish he would buy if given extra blessings, his eyes lit up as he replied, "I would buy chicken or meat for my children and wife." That simple response made the atmosphere even more touching.

Before parting, Mr. Suwanto could not stop expressing his gratitude and prayers. "May God be the one to repay you, Ma'am. I can only thank you, God. Only you, God, can help me, and you are the channel, God," he prayed solemnly. This noble act by Jestham has once again captured the public's attention, reminding everyone that sharing doesn't have to be complicated or expensive but can be done in simple yet impactful ways. That brief encounter taught us that a bottle of cooking oil or a bag of rice can transform someone's nightmare into a beautiful dream come true.
