Jestham Buys All of a Fried Cracker Seller's Stock, Gives Extra Money After Bargaining
Medan, North Sumatra – (13/07/26) That day seemed to be a heavy one for a mother selling fried crackers. She sat faithfully beside her remaining merchandise, accompanied by her five-year-old child. Throughout the day, her stall was nearly empty of customers. Her face showed growing anxiety because her earnings for the day were very slim, while her child sat beside her, unaware of the restlessness his mother was feeling. This very scene caught Jestham's attention.
As Jestham approached the stall, a warm greeting was exchanged. She asked whether the mother was selling fried crackers, and the woman answered politely. The mother then mentioned that she recognized Jestham from her content. When Jestham asked how she could be recognized, the woman explained that she often watched Jestham on her phone. "Oh, you've seen me on your phone," Jestham said with a nod of understanding.
Jestham then asked about their well-being, specifically whether they had eaten. The mother shook her head weakly. When asked why, the mother answered with a tone of despair, "It's so quiet today." The day was truly quiet, far from the crowds of visitors she had hoped for so she could go home with enough earnings. Hearing her complaint, Jestham's heart was moved to do something unexpected. Without a second thought, she offered to buy all the remaining fried crackers. "Ma'am, if I have the blessing, can I buy all your fried crackers?" she offered. The mother's eyes immediately lit up. "Yes. Alhamdulillah. Thank you so much, Sis."
Jestham then asked about the price per piece of the fried crackers. "How much per piece, Ma'am?" she asked. The mother answered that the price per piece was Rp5,000. Jestham repeated the number and then asked how many were left in total. The mother counted and said that only 11 packs remained, making the total Rp55,000. Jestham then tried to bargain politely, "Can I get a little discount, Ma'am?" With a sincere heart, the mother allowed it. After a short bargaining session, the mother agreed to the offered price. "It's fine. It's okay. Just so I can go home quickly," she said sincerely, because she preferred her goods to sell out quickly so she could go home with her child.
Jestham handed over the money according to their agreement. However, what made this moment so special was what happened after the transaction was complete. Jestham reached into her pocket again and gave extra money. The mother was surprised and couldn't hold back her tears, showing just how much this small help meant to her. However, even though her goods were sold out and she received more than enough money, there was a sadness she couldn't hide. Noticing her expression, Jestham asked, "Why are you sad, Ma'am?" With teary eyes, the mother answered, "Yes, I'm just sad. Alhamdulillah." She complained again, "Today has been so quiet since earlier. It's been so quiet today."

Jestham tried to comfort her with gentle words, "It's been quiet, hasn't it? Don't be sad anymore, okay, Ma'am? Stay healthy, okay?" The mother nodded and said "Amen" to Jestham's well wishes. At the end of their meeting, Jestham said goodbye and asked for permission to take all the fried crackers. Jestham then explained that her family really liked fried crackers, so they often bought in bulk whenever they saw someone selling them. Before leaving, she took a moment to greet the little one who had started to calm down, "Don't cry anymore, dear. Don't be sad anymore. Love your mother, okay, love her." The five-year-old nodded sweetly. The mother thanked Jestham once again, and Jestham left carrying all the fried crackers, leaving smiles and hope in their hearts.

That day, a brief encounter on the side of the road turned into an unforgettable moment. A mother selling fried crackers who had almost given up hope because her goods weren't selling went home with a relieved heart and prayers accompanying her steps. Jestham was once again reminded that behind every difficulty, there are always unexpected blessings.
