Jestham Treats: Fun Shopping Challenge Ends in a Deeply Touching Moment

Medan Sunggal, Medan City -(08/07/25) Jessica Thamrin, popularly known as Jestham, once again shared heartwarming content on her channel, Jestham Traktir (Jestham Treats). In her latest video, she invited viewers to watch a fun and surprising challenge. This time, she ordered a ride from an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver and challenged him to shop for basic necessities at a minimarket within just one minute.

The challenge began immediately. Feeling nervous but full of spirit, the driver ran into the minimarket. In those tense, fleeting seconds, he tried to remember and gather dozens of requested items: 4 packs of rice, 4 packs of sugar, 4 bottles of dish soap, 4 bottles of floor cleaner, 20 packs of instant noodles, and 40 eggs. Shouts of “Faster, Bang!” (“Bang” is a common term of address for men) underscored the intensity of the moment. Although he failed to collect all the items in time, his effort was still appreciated.

After the challenge, Jestham sat down to chat with the driver. This light conversation unexpectedly revealed a deeply moving life story. It turned out the driver was a migrant from Nias who had been living and working in Medan for 10 years. As the eldest of two siblings, he carried a heavy responsibility to provide for his family.

With tears welling in his eyes, he shared that his father had passed away. The entire burden of life—including rent and the needs of his mother and younger sibling—now fell on his shoulders alone. His biggest motivation is to be a successful person and not fail in this great responsibility. What he is most grateful for is his family's health, as that is his main capital to keep fighting.

The atmosphere grew even more emotional when he expressed how much he missed his father. “If my father were still here, I probably wouldn't be like this... maybe at least he would always give me motivation,” he said with a trembling voice, illustrating how much he yearns for a figure who could guide and support him.

Hearing this story of immense struggle, Jestham not only multiplied the fare for the order but also gave him a substantial amount of additional money as a form of support and encouragement. This unexpected blessing immediately moved the driver to tears. He revealed that just before this, he had been anxiously worrying about how to cover the shortfall for his rent payment. He believed Jestham's presence and help were an answer to his prayers and a timely gift of sustenance.

This story is a powerful reminder that behind the smile and hard work of every person we meet, there could lie a hidden, difficult struggle. Jestham's good deed teaches us to always be empathetic and to believe that there is always hope and unexpected blessings for those who never give up and are devoted to their family.
