Jestham's Treat Mission: Two Minutes of Shopping for Jihan, the Eldest Daughter

Medan, North Sumatra – (06/25/26) Jihan, a young woman who works as an Indomaret employee, was given the opportunity by Jestham to take part in a free grocery shopping challenge. However, the challenge was not easy because she was only given two minutes to grab as many items as possible. With great enthusiasm and cheerfulness, Jihan immediately moved quickly to make the most of the opportunity.

When asked what the most important necessity was, Jihan's answer immediately pointed to her family. "Rice. For Mum," she said without hesitation. Within those two minutes, with Jestham's help, Jihan tried to grab as many items as possible. Rice, cooking oil, sugar, eggs, and instant noodles quickly filled the cart. Her spirit was so fiery that Jestham jokingly remarked that she seemed like she was about to open a grocery store.

After the shopping spree, Jestham chatted further with Jihan. It turned out that behind her cheerful demeanour, she carried a heavy story of struggle. Jihan is the first of five children. Since graduating from school, she has had to become the family's backbone because her mother has been the primary breadwinner, while her father works odd jobs. Most of her salary is set aside for daily needs and the school fees of her three younger siblings who are still in school.

Jihan also shared about her role as the eldest daughter. She feels she has to be a role model for her siblings and help solve every family problem. "I have to be a role model for my siblings. And whatever family problems there are, we also help," she said with a steady tone. At her young age, she has taken on the family's economic burden without complaint.

The most touching moment came when Jestham asked Jihan to convey a message to her mother. With tears in her eyes, she said, "Mum, this is Jihan. Always be happy, Mum. Jihan loves Mum forever. Even though I often argue with Mum, Jihan still loves Mum." This simple message showed how great her love and respect are for her mother, who has struggled so hard.

Even so, Jihan admitted that she had kept some distance from her father because of his minimal role in her life. However, Jestham gave her wise advice to forgive and still respect her father. "Forgiving your parents is never a loss. It makes our path smoother," Jestham said. Jihan then realised this and promised to continue loving both her parents.

At the end of the meeting, Jihan left a message for her younger siblings to obey their parents, study diligently, and never stray from God. "Most importantly, don't stray from God. Always remember to pray five times a day," she advised. Jestham closed the meeting with a prayer that the groceries would be a blessing for Jihan and her family.

This story reminds us that around us, there are many young people who struggle with great responsibility. A small act of kindness, like the two-minute free shopping opportunity from Jestham, can mean so much in lightening their burdens and giving them a chance to share their stories.
