One Cracker, a Thousand Prayers: Jestham Buys Out All Crackers for the Sake of a Father's Family

Medan Petisah, Medan City - (08/03/25) Amid the hustle and bustle of the city and the scorching sun, a touching scene was captured by the lens of Jestham and her team's kindness. An elderly father was seen diligently and with great struggle carrying his load of crackers for sale. The beads of sweat covering his face and his visibly tired body did not slow his steps to keep fighting. Every step he took was a story of resilience and unconditional love to provide for his family.

Without hesitation, Jestham approached the Father. A warm greeting ensued: “Sir, I would like to buy some crackers.” In a short conversation filled with empathy, his true life struggle was revealed. The crackers were sold for Rp 5,000 per pack, and at that time, about 100 packs remained unsold. The father also shared that he had been selling them door-to-door since 2016, carrying a load of about 10 kilograms from the Setiabudi area. The most touching part was that all this struggle was done to provide for and educate his six children.

Hearing this story, Jestham was moved. With full sympathy, she expressed her sincere intention, “If God has granted me fortune, I would like to buy all of them. Is that okay, Sir?” The Father, who probably rarely experienced anything like this, agreed with mixed feelings of gratitude and emotion. Jestham then counted all the remaining crackers, which totaled 96 packs.

In a moment where haggling usually occurs, Jestham did something beyond most people's reasoning. Instead of bargaining, she even gave more money than required. If the total was Rp 480,000, Jestham gave extra as an additional blessing. The Father could not hide his emotion and gratitude. “Alhamdulillah ya Allah (Praise be to God),” he said softly. He considered this meeting to be destiny and an unexpected blessing, as it had been almost a year since he last passed through that route.

“This is your blessing for today, Sir. May it be useful for your family. Keep up the spirit with your selling,” said Jestham, offering encouragement and a prayer before saying goodbye. That sincere prayer was not only for smooth providence but also for the health and protection of the Father's family. That moment was a real illustration that kindness and empathy are still alive amidst the harshness of life.

However, the story does not end there. The kindness continued and multiplied. The crackers that had been bought out were not taken home; instead, they were immediately distributed free of charge to passing motorists around the location. This spontaneous act of sharing managed to break the routine busyness of the streets by spreading smiles and surprise.

Each pack of crackers given successfully created smiles, astonishment, and happiness on the recipients' faces. Whether they were people struggling to make a living or just going about their ordinary day, this simple act managed to touch their hearts and become a sweet story they would likely remember.

In the end, Jestham and her team have proven a beautiful philosophy: a little sincere kindness can transform an ordinary journey into a special, chain-reaction moment. The cracker seller's father received a new blessing and spirit, the motorists received a surprise that brightened their day, and everyone who witnessed it was reminded that sharing kindness is a universal language most understood by every heart.
