Perseverance and Fighting Spirit of a Crackers Seller from Palembang

Medan Polonia, Medan City—(28/12/24) On a bright morning yesterday, the Jestham team had the opportunity to meet an inspiring father who sells crackers. His appearance was simple, yet his perseverance and fighting spirit were truly extraordinary. This man had traveled far from Palembang, leaving behind his beloved wife and children, in search of a better livelihood in Medan. His goal was clear: to provide a brighter future for his family.

Every day, he diligently sells crackers in various corners of Medan. His journey has not been easy. The income he earns often does not match the effort he puts in. Yet, he never gives up. With every step, he includes prayers, asking for smoothness and blessings in his endeavors. His biggest dream is simple yet profound: one day, he hopes to return to his hometown, bringing happiness and success to his wife and children, whom he deeply misses.

When Jestham met him, the father was selling crackers for Rp10,000 per pack. That day, he had only managed to sell 12 out of the 25 packs he had brought. He had been selling since 8:00 AM and usually returned home around 5:00 PM. When asked about his family, the father shared that he has a child still in high school. His daughter, Rizki Amelia, is his pride, and he hopes to provide the best for her education.

The father hails from Palembang and ventured to Medan alone. His wife and child remain in their hometown. Every time he earns money, he sends it back to his family. "If I have money, I transfer it. Sometimes Rp200,000, sometimes Rp100,000, depending on my sales," he said with humility.

Moved by his sincerity and unwavering spirit, Jestham decided to support him. They bought all his remaining stock, paying more than the usual price. The father was shocked and could not hold back his tears. "Masyaallah, this is a blessing from God for me today," he said with a trembling voice.

Venturing Far to Strive for His Children and Wife

Overwhelmed with emotion, the father said, "You are like an angel sent by God," as he smiled joyfully, grateful for all the kindness Jestham had shown him. True to his vow, if he ever received extra blessings, he would decide to return to his hometown and reunite with his family. In front of the camera, the father conveyed a heartfelt message to his family. "To my children, especially Oktarina, Tri Oktarina, and Rizki Amelia, I am fighting for you. Your mother knows where I started. I remain faithful to you and your mother. I hope we can reunite soon," he said with deep emotion.
