Unexpected Blessing for an Ojol Driver: A Touching Smile and Spirit of Sharing at Indomaret

Medan City, North Sumatra - (11/12/25) The routine atmosphere of an Indomaret suddenly transformed into a moment full of surprise and happiness. Jestham, by chance, met an online motorcycle taxi driver (Abang Ojol) who was checking his balance inside the minimarket. Spontaneously and warmly, Jestham approached and offered a golden opportunity: a challenge to shop for free basic necessities within just two minutes. The Ojol driver's expression immediately changed; his face flushed with disbelief and uncontrollable joy. "I'd love that," he said enthusiastically, as if he couldn't believe this blessing had come so suddenly.

With the count of "one, two, three," the exciting challenge began. The ojol driver dashed off, raising heartbeats in the aisles of the Indomaret shelves. Accompanied and encouraged by Jestham, he prioritized grabbing rice, cooking oil, sugar, and eggs. The atmosphere grew even more lively as the clock kept ticking. Jestham shouted, "Quickly, Bang! Take a lot!" while also helping to put items like instant noodles, soy sauce, ketchup, soap, coffee, and various snacks into the increasingly full basket. Those two minutes passed quickly, filled with laughter and tremendous effort.

After the timer stopped, signaling the end of time, his shopping basket was already full of basic necessities and daily essentials. The moment then shifted from tense to touching. During a brief pause, the ojol driver was given a drink to refresh himself. With teary eyes, he expressed his feelings. "It's an honor for me to meet you, Kak. I've only ever seen you on my phone," he said. It turns out, he was one of the loyal followers of the "Misi Jestham Traktir" content, who often watched these sharing acts.

In a casual yet profound conversation, his life story was revealed. The ojol driver is the youngest of three siblings, living with one of his older siblings in Medan. Both of his parents have passed away, and he had ventured far, having worked in places like Malaysia and Bandung, before finally settling and working as an ojol driver since 2018. "This ojol work is my mainstay," he said simply. He works from 9 AM to 9 PM daily to make ends meet.

There was also a story about his personal hopes and struggles. He shared that he had experienced a "failed" romantic relationship but remains optimistic about the future. "With activities like this, I might be able to change my life. Who knows, there might be a change; maybe a match will come along," he expressed hopefully. His spirit to keep working and sharing with his family was clearly evident. "Driving for Grab is for my sister," he said when asked for whom he works so hard.

The most touching moment was when he imagined his sister's reaction at home. "My sister will definitely be shocked, Kak. Never ever... I usually only see you on my phone," he said with a smile. For this Ojol driver, meeting Jestham in person, whom he had only ever seen on his phone screen, was something profoundly meaningful and almost like a dream.

The thrilling two-minute challenge thus transformed into a real blessing and act of care. Jestham concluded the conversation by thanking him for being part of her followers and hoping her content could continue to inspire. The Ojol driver then prayed that Jestham and her team would always be blessed with abundance. "Amen. Thank you so much for your prayers, Bang," Jestham replied, full of gratitude.

More than just a fun challenge, this story is about an unexpected blessing, the sincere smile of a hard worker, and the beauty of sharing that can change someone's mood and even provide a glimmer of hope. Perhaps this simple story can be a mirror for all of us: is there a small opportunity around us today to create a meaningful "two-minute moment" for someone else?
