More Than Just a Food Box: A Sign That Kindness Still Exists

Medan City, North Sumatra – (07/01/25) That day, Jestham returned with a different mission of giving. This time, her main targets were ride-hailing drivers (ojol) who spend their days navigating the streets. Carrying mysterious styrofoam boxes, she offered something more than just a meal—a surprise filled with meaning. What was inside? Hidden within were words of encouragement and unexpected blessings that left the recipients deeply moved.

Jestham began her act by preparing money and short messages inside the boxes. She then approached the drivers with a simple question: "Would you like to open my food box?" The first reaction came from a curious driver. As soon as he opened it, his eyes welled up upon finding cash and a heartfelt question: "Who is always in your prayers?" With a trembling voice, the man answered, "My children… This year has been tough—one is starting junior high, the other senior high." Jestham cheered him on: "May your blessings flow, Sir!"

She didn’t stop there. Another driver, exhausted and on the verge of giving up, read the message: "Who do you think of when you’re tired?" He smiled bitterly and whispered, "My family." Jestham reassured him, "Keep fighting, Sir!" This simple moment struck a chord, revealing the weight of their sacrifices for loved ones.

Then came a particularly poignant story. A driver, rushing to deliver an ID card, still took a moment to open Jestham’s box. Inside, he found the question: "What do you wish you could say to someone but haven’t?" His face fell as he admitted longing to talk more to his children. "Financial struggles keep us from fulfilling their wishes," he said softly. Jestham nodded in silent understanding, offering comfort beyond words.

Her initiative proved that happiness can stem from small gestures. It wasn’t the money that mattered most, but the care and empathy she shared. Each styrofoam box became a reminder to these street warriors that they aren’t alone. "Stay strong!" became Jestham’s recurring mantra.

Many were inspired by her way of spreading joy without preachiness. So, what are you waiting for? Watch the full video—and keep tissues handy! Who knows? You might feel called to share smiles and hope, just like Jestham.
