Prostration of Gratitude Amidst Challenges in 2 Minutes: The Heart-Wrenching Story of a Parking Attendant that Touches the Heart

Medan City, North Sumatra—(05/26/26) Behind the hustle and bustle of the city, there are silent warriors who sacrifice their sweat and time every day for their beloved families. One of them is Mr. Rifki, a parking attendant who never tires of struggling from morning until night on the roadside. His story came into the spotlight after a simple challenge magically transformed his day. The challenge from Jestham was not just a shopping spree but a reminder that sustenance from God can come from the most unexpected directions.

"Sir, if I have some fortune, would you be willing to shop inside for 2 minutes?" asked Jestham. With eyes sparkling, Mr. Rifki, who daily wears a parking vest, agreed. The challenge began: 2 minutes to grab as many basic necessities as possible inside the store. Jestham then shouted to spur him on, "Quick, Sir! Run, Sir!" Mr. Rifki, looking awkward but enthusiastic, hurriedly filled his cart with rice, cooking oil, sugar, soap, instant noodles, and snacks for the children.

As soon as the time was up, Mr. Rifki, already tired from running, immediately prostrated in gratitude in the middle of the store. "Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah, Oh Allah," he repeatedly uttered in a hoarse voice. This prostration was not just because of the pile of groceries but also because of the realization that the prayers he had been offering all this time had finally been answered. That moment became tangible proof of how gratitude can overflow from the simplest yet most sincere heart.

The conversation after the challenge further revealed the hardships of his life. Jestham asked, "Since what time do you work, Sir?" Innocently, Mr. Rifki answered, "From 8 in the morning until 8 or 9 at night." He stands for hours on end, but his income is never certain. "It's not fixed, Ma'am. He admitted that his income varies, sometimes reaching 60 thousand rupiah and other times only 50 thousand rupiah. Imagine, sometimes only Rp50,000 per day to support his wife, two children, and his parents who are nearly 80 years old. He bears this enormous responsibility alone without a single complaint.

The emotional peak is felt when Mr. Rifki shares his simplest dream as a father. Jestham asked if he had ever taken his children out to eat together. Mr. Rifki then recounted that the last time he could take his children out to eat was when he received a salary from his previous job. "A salary of Rp1,200,000 per month. "That's when I took them out to eat; I bought them everything," he remembered. After resigning due to illness, he hadn't been able to experience that simple happiness for a long time. This story touches anyone who hears it, that the small joy of taking children out to eat can be an extraordinary luxury for some people.

Not stopping there, Jestham, moved with emotion, then gave additional fortune to Mr. Rifki. "Here, in case you want to use this to take the children out to eat, that's fine, isn't it, Sir?" she offered gently. With teary eyes, Mr. Rifki gave thanks once more. He then delivered a message for his two daughters: "Get ready, okay? Study hard, be diligent." Here is some fortune; when Father gets home, hopefully it will be useful for you, okay, my children?" he said in a trembling voice.

Mr. Rifki is a reflection of millions of family warriors out there who work tirelessly. His unyielding spirit, simplicity, and profound gratitude are lessons for us all. Sometimes, fortune indeed comes in unexpected forms, and a prostration of gratitude is the most sincere form of surrender and thanks to the Almighty Giver.
